Kovalam Beach, Kerala, India FLO Yoga is the creation of Amy Karlein Griffith-RYT 200. I am a graduate of The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA with a B.F.A. in Dance Performance. I have lived in New York since 2002, working as a professional dancer, performing as a Radio City Rockette, and in the Broadway musicals "42nd St." and "Spamalot." I began to study yoga knowing it would support my dance training. I soon began to realize how much more this disciplined practice has to offer.
Teaching dance for the past 15 years has always fulfilled me creatively. Once I began studying yoga, I knew I wanted to teach this as well. I have completed my 200 hour teacher training certification through Sonic Yoga, Center for Yoga Studies, and a prenatal yoga certification from the Prenatal Yoga Center, both in New York, NY.
Combining two of my favorite things, yoga and travel, I made my way over to India in Sept. 2009, where I studied yoga at the Sivananda Ashram in Neyyar Dam, Kerala. This was an enlightening experience, opening my eyes to a new culture, and the beauty of practicing yoga in India. What a perfect way to see another part of the world, and expand my yoga training!
The style of yoga I teach is Vinyasa Flow which links the breath with the movements of the body. Using the foundation postures of yoga to creatively and safely design my classes, I connect all of this with music. Because Vinyasa is so fluid and imaginative, my classes are always changing, focusing on different themes, breathwork, and ideas for your spiritual journey. The rewards you will gain from practicing yoga are endless. This is not only a perfect form of exercise, it will change your impression of yourself, and your outlook on the world.
Now living in Erie PA, I encourage you to join me in a private session, or group class and you will quickly realize the power of your practice and finding your own teacher within.
